Rehoming a pet without erasing its past
Sometimes the right home is a different one, and the decision is hard enough without the paperwork failing the animal. On United Pet Club a rehoming is a transfer: the pet's profile, history and registered microchip move to the new owner, and its recovery coverage never blinks.
What a transfer carries
The whole record
The pet's profile moves to the new owner: identity, photos, weight history, and the notes you chose to share. The new home starts informed, not guessing.
The microchip, re-pointed
Ownership on the chip's registration flips with the transfer, free as always. No mail-in forms, no lapsed registration in the gap between homes.
Recovery, unbroken
Lifetime lost-pet recovery follows the animal, not the owner. If it slips out during the stressful first week, the network works immediately.
A clean handshake
You send the transfer; the new owner accepts under their own account. Both sides are recorded, which protects both sides.
Your own copy
What you wrote about the animal stays yours. The pet's story continues with its new family; your records of your time with it remain in your account.
The same flow shelters use
Surrendering to a rescue or adopting from one uses the same transfer, so histories stay whole in either direction.
Do it the careful way
Rehoming well is mostly about honesty and time: an accurate picture of the animal, a new home vetted rather than the first to answer, and a handover that keeps its identity intact. The transfer handles the last part. The first two are on you, and taking them seriously is what separates rehoming from abandonment with extra steps.
If keeping the pet might still be possible, a veterinarian, a trainer or a behavior consult can sometimes change the equation; the care directory is a place to start. If rehoming is right, do not remove the microchip registration or hand over a blank-slate animal. The history is part of the pet, and the next family deserves it.
Rehoming questions
How do I rehome my pet on United Pet Club?
Put the pet on its profile if it is not already, then send a transfer to the new owner. When they accept under their own account, ownership, the shared records and the chip registration move together.
Does the microchip registration transfer too?
Yes, and it stays free. The registration follows the transfer, so there is no gap where the chip points at a previous home.
Can I see anything after the transfer?
Your own records of the animal stay in your account. The live profile belongs to the new owner from acceptance onward; what they share publicly is their choice.
Does United Pet Club list pets for adoption?
No. There is no browse-and-buy listing of animals here; the platform handles the record and identity side of a rehoming you arrange. Shelters and rescues in the care directory are the right partners for finding a home.
What if the new home does not work out?
The transfer can run back the same way, with the record intact. Returned animals arrive with their history instead of a mystery, which makes the second placement better informed.
Does this work outside the United States?
Yes. Transfers, registration and recovery work worldwide, in more than 70 languages.
