How a microchip protects your pet
A microchip does not track your pet's location and it has no battery. It is a small glass capsule holding a unique ID code, implanted between the shoulder blades, that stays readable for the animal's life. When a vet, shelter, or animal control officer scans a lost pet, the scanner reads that code and pulls up your contact information from the microchip registry.
Every United Pet Club chip meets ISO 11784/11785, the international standard for animal microchips, so it can be read by standard scanners at vet offices and shelters almost anywhere. Registration is free for life, you can update your contact details any time your address or phone number changes, and depending on your plan, you can get notified when your pet's chip or tag is scanned and searched.

Common questions about pet microchips
Does every United Pet Club microchip include free registration?
Yes. Every chip we sell comes with the free lifetime plan: registration in the United Pet Club pet registry and unlimited contact updates, at no cost for the life of your pet. Optional upgraded registry features exist if you want them, but nothing about the core registration ever expires or needs payment.
Can a microchip tell me my pet's location?
No. A microchip has no battery and no GPS. It only stores an ID number that a scanner reads when your pet is found and brought to a vet, shelter, or animal control office. If you want live location tracking, you need a separate GPS collar or tag, not a microchip.
What is an ISO microchip?
An ISO microchip meets ISO 11784/11785, the international standard that lets any compliant scanner read the chip regardless of which country or company sold it. This is why vets and shelters worldwide can identify a lost pet even if it was chipped somewhere else.
Which United Pet Club microchip should I choose?
