Urolithiasis
Also known as: Bladder stones
Hereditary
Urolithiasis is the formation of mineral stones in the urinary tract, most commonly the bladder. Stones irritate the lining, cause bloody and painful urination, and can obstruct urine flow, a life-threatening emergency in males. Common types include struvite and calcium oxalate, with some such as urate and cystine having a hereditary basis. Treatment depends on stone type and location.
