Hyperlipidemia
Also known as: High blood fat
Hyperlipidemia is an abnormal elevation of fats (triglycerides and/or cholesterol) in the blood. It may follow a recent meal or reflect endocrine disease, certain breed predispositions, or primary lipid disorders. Persistent elevation can trigger pancreatitis, fatty liver, seizures, and ocular changes. Schnauzers and some other breeds are notably prone to primary forms.
