Feline cholangitis
Also known as: Bile duct inflammation
Cholangitis is inflammation of the bile ducts and surrounding liver tissue and is one of the most common liver diseases of cats. It is divided into a neutrophilic form, often linked to bacterial infection ascending from the intestine, and a lymphocytic form, thought to be immune-mediated and more chronic. Signs include reduced appetite, vomiting and jaundice. Treatment differs between the two forms, so diagnosis matters.
