Found a stray? Search its microchip for free

United Pet Club's pet recovery lookup is free and open to anyone, anywhere in the world, with no account needed. You can also register your own pet in a couple of minutes, so a future scan reaches you instead of stalling out.

What a lookup does with a chip number

Every microchip holds a unique number, usually 15 digits, read off with a scanner at a vet clinic. On its own the number tells you nothing about the owner; it has to be checked against a registry, which is exactly what a lookup does. Enter the number, and whichever registry holds the record hands back a way to reach the owner.

The United Pet Club registry takes chips from any manufacturer and is part of the AAHA universal pet microchip lookup, a cross-registry search clinics try first when a stray turns up. If a number isn't with us, the universal lookup points to whichever registry does hold it, so the search keeps going instead of stopping cold.

Reading this as an owner, not a finder? A lookup only leads anywhere if your own pet's chip is registered and up to date. Register your pet's microchip free, or see what the free lifetime plan includes.

Found a lost dog or cat? Do this

1

Check the collar first

A tag with a number is the quickest route home. Spot a QR or printed code? Point your phone camera at it to open the pet's registry profile.

2

Get the animal scanned

Any vet clinic can check for a microchip, usually free for a found pet. The scan takes seconds and shows the chip number.

3

Run the number through a lookup

Enter it in United Pet Club's pet recovery lookup, or the AAHA universal lookup to sweep every participating registry at once.

4

Reach the owner or hand off

A match connects you with the owner through the registry. No match, and a vet clinic or nearby shelter can take it from there.

What the recovery lookup covers

●

Microchip numbers

Any brand of ISO microchip, not only chips sold by United Pet Club.

●

Tag and code lookups

The code on a United Pet Club QR tag can be typed in by hand if scanning isn't an option.

●

Older ID methods too

Tattoo and pet passport numbers work in the lookup as well, so older identification still leads home.

●

Free, any hour

The lookup costs nothing and never closes, whatever time you find a stray.

Microchip lookup questions

How do I look up a pet's microchip number in Singapore?

Get the pet scanned at any vet clinic to obtain the chip number, then enter it in United Pet Club's free pet recovery lookup. The AAHA universal microchip lookup is another route; one search checks participating registries, ours included.

Does a microchip lookup cost anything?

No. Searching the United Pet Club registry is free, and no account is needed to look up a found pet.

Can I get an owner's home address from a chip number?

No. A lookup never hands out personal details. It connects you with the registry, which reaches the owner through the contact information on file, leaving the owner in control of what's shared.

What if the chip number isn't registered anywhere?

More common than you'd expect: implanted but never registered. A vet can sometimes trace the manufacturer from the number's prefix and reach the clinic that bought it. It's also the clearest reason to register your own pet's chip today.

What is the AAHA universal pet microchip lookup?

A free tool from the American Animal Hospital Association that checks many registries in one go and reports which one holds a record for a chip number. United Pet Club takes part, which is one reason vets find our records fast.

Make sure a lookup leads back to you

The finder's side of this page only works once the owner's side is done. Register your pet's microchip free, and keep your contact details current.
