Three microchip families make up the United Pet Club lineup: Standard ISO, TapSense, and ThermaSense. Free lifetime registration and the same ISO 11784/11785 standard come with all three; where they part ways is in how pet information gets read and whether extra health data comes along with it.
Questions to ask before buying a microchip
Microchips sold around the world are not all built alike. The first thing to confirm before buying is ISO 11784/11785 compliance, the international standard that keeps a chip readable on any properly equipped scanner, at home and wherever your travels take your pet. Chips built to some other, non-ISO standard may not read on a standard scanner at all, and at that point the whole purpose of chipping is lost.
The registry behind the chip deserves a look too. United Pet Club chips carry ICAR registration through the International Committee for Animal Recording, and once you register the microchip number they enrol free of charge in our pet registry. Since a chip is only ever as strong as its registry, insist on free lifetime updates, searchability at any hour, and a registry that shelters and vets genuinely rely on.

Can ThermaSense stand in for a vet checkup?
It cannot. What ThermaSense does is fold temperature sensing into a standard microchip, letting a vet or owner capture a data point during a scan. Think of it as a monitoring aid rather than a diagnostic device; regular veterinary care still matters.
Is a pricier microchip always the better choice?
