Is microchip registration really free?
Completely. Registering a new microchip costs nothing, updating your information costs nothing, and there is no renewal fee at any point. Where some registries bill for updates or after a certain number of years, ours never does.
Will I eventually have to pay to keep my registration active?
Never. A registered chip stays active for your pet's whole life unless you decide to remove it, and the free tier keeps working without any subscription.
Can I register a chip that came from another company?
Absolutely. Take the microchip number printed on your pet's paperwork, or the one your vet gives you, and it goes into our system exactly as a United Pet Club chip would.
How do the free lifetime plan and the upgraded registry plans differ?
The core record belongs to the free lifetime plan: your contact details, your pet's information, and searchability at any hour, free for your pet's whole life. Upgraded plans bolt on extras such as additional notification options, but keeping the basic registration active never requires an upgrade.
Is microchip registration free in Canada?
It is. Canadian pet owners register free under the United Pet Club free lifetime plan, unlimited contact updates and zero renewal fees included. Our registry also takes part in the AAHA universal pet microchip lookup, which spans participating registries used by shelters across Canada and the US, so a chip registered with us can be traced from either side of the border.
