Pododermatitis (sore hocks)

Pododermatitis, commonly called sore hocks, is an ulcerative skin condition affecting the underside of a rabbit's hind feet and hocks. It results from chronic pressure and friction on the skin, worsened by hard or wire flooring, obesity, inactivity, poor hygiene, and lack of thick fur padding. Lesions range from hair loss and redness to deep ulcers and abscesses, and advanced cases can involve bone. It is painful and tends to be persistent.
