Keratoconjunctivitis sicca
Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), or dry eye, is a deficiency of the watery portion of tears, most often caused by immune-mediated destruction of the tear glands. Inadequate tears leave the cornea dry and inflamed, causing discomfort, discharge, and potential corneal damage. It is managed with tear-stimulating and lubricating therapy.
