Shedding
Low shedding
  • A Löwchen coat mats easily.

Fine or long hair tangles at the base of the coat, out of sight, where the mats tighten and pull on the skin. Brushing has to reach right down to the roots in sections, not just skim the surface.

  • A Löwchen needs clipping every few weeks.

This coat keeps growing rather than shedding out, so it has to be trimmed every few weeks. Left to grow it mats down against the skin and traps moisture, dirt and heat.
