Strangulating colic
Strangulating colic occurs when a portion of intestine twists or becomes entrapped, cutting off its blood supply. It causes severe, unrelenting pain and rapid deterioration as the affected bowel dies. This is a surgical emergency with a guarded prognosis that worsens with delay.
