United Pet Club

Get your pet's microchip registered for free

A microchip's useless until it's registered. United Pet Club hooks your pet's chip number up to your contact details at no charge, and the record stays live for good.

How the registry actually works

Scan a lost pet and all you get back is a number. No name, no phone number, nothing. The vet or shelter has to run that number through a database before they know who to ring. Chip never registered? Or registered with a mob the shelter can't reach? Then that number's a dead end.

United Pet Club keeps a free, searchable registry that ties your contact details to your pet's chip number. Doesn't matter which brand your vet used, we take chips from any manufacturer. We're also plugged into the American Animal Hospital Association's universal microchip lookup, one of the first spots shelters and clinics check when a stray turns up.

Sorting it out takes a few minutes. If your pet's freshly chipped, start with free microchip registration. Otherwise, follow our guides for registering a dog's microchip or registering a cat's microchip. No chip yet? Get a free profile going through pet registration instead. Found a stray? Run a microchip lookup and track the owner down.

AAHA universal lookup

Our registry ties into the American Animal Hospital Association's universal lookup, the first place most vets and shelters check.

A chip and a tag, better as a team

A microchip's a tiny implant, about rice-grain sized, sitting under the skin between your pet's shoulder blades. It carries an ID number a scanner reads. It's not a tracker, no battery, no live location, it only does anything once someone scans it up close. Without a registry behind that number, it's just a number. That's why registering matters as much as the chip itself.

A pet ID tag does the opposite job. Right there on the collar for anyone to read, no scanner needed, no database, just your phone number in plain sight. Trouble is tags fall off, catch on fences, snap loose. That's where the chip earns its keep. Get both sorted and your pet's covered whichever way someone finds them.

Questions Aussies ask about microchip registration

Is pet microchip registration actually free in Australia?

Yeah, it is. United Pet Club runs a free registry, any chip, any manufacturer, registered for life on the free plan. Want scan location or a live agent line? Upgrade for that. The basics never cost you a cent and never lapse.

Isn't registering the same thing as getting the chip put in?

Nope, two separate jobs. The vet implants the chip in a few seconds. You're the one who has to load your contact details into a registry afterwards, otherwise that chip's not linked to anyone.

What actually happens when a shelter scans my pet?

The scanner spits out the chip's ID number plus which registry it sits in. Staff punch that number in, pull up your details, and give you a call.

Do I need to update anything if we move house?

Too right you do. Address, phone number, email, update the lot the moment they change. A chip registered to your old place isn't going to help much when someone's trying to reach you at the new one.

Does the registry still work if I take my pet overseas?

It does. United Pet Club registration works worldwide and you can search it 24/7 from anywhere. Every chip we sell meets ISO 11784/11785, so standard scanners almost everywhere can read it, meaning your pet's still identifiable whether you're travelling, moving overseas, or rehoming across a border.
