How to register your pet's microchip
Registering a microchip links the number under your pet's skin to your contact details, so a scan at a clinic or shelter leads straight back to you. Registration in the United Pet Club pet registry is free for life and works whether your pet's chip came from us or another provider.
What to have ready before you start
Have your pet's microchip number on hand. It's a 15-digit number printed on the paperwork your vet gave you when the chip went in, or shown on a scanner readout if your vet checks for you. You'll also want your current contact details and a few basic facts about your pet: species, breed, color, and birth date if you know it.
Not sure your pet even has a chip? Ask your vet to scan for one at your next visit; it takes seconds, and most clinics will do it during a routine checkup. Once you have the number, registration works the same way no matter which company made the chip.
Five steps to register your pet's microchip
1
Create a free account
Sign up for a free United Pet Club account. This is where your registration and any future updates live.
2
Enter the microchip number
Type in the 15-digit number from your pet's paperwork or scanner readout. Double-check each digit; one wrong number links the wrong record to a scan.
3
Add your pet's details
Fill in your pet's name, species, breed, color, and birth date if known, so a vet or shelter can confirm they found the right animal.
4
Add your contact information
Enter the phone number, email, and address a finder should use. These are the details a clinic or pound will use to reach you after a scan, so keep them updated.
5
Confirm and save
Review the record and save it. Your pet's chip is now searchable in the United Pet Club pet registry, and you can return any time to update the details.
Keep your registration current
A microchip can only do its job when the contact details attached to it are right. If you move to a new address, change your number, or rehome your pet, update the registry that same day. Updates are free and take effect right away.
Registering a dog or a cat follows the same steps, and our species guides cover the details: register a dog or register a cat. If your pet has no chip yet, you can still register your pet first and add the chip number after the vet visit. Want to know exactly what the free lifetime plan covers before you begin? Registration questions
How do I register my dog's microchip in the Philippines?
Register it free with United Pet Club: create an account, enter the 15-digit chip number, and add your contact details. It works with any brand of chip implanted by any vet, and the free lifetime plan covers registration and every future update at no cost. This is separate from the rabies vaccination and dog registration your barangay or city requires under the Anti-Rabies Act (RA 9482); our registry adds a free, searchable contact record on top of that. It's also available worldwide, so the record travels with you if you move.
How long does it take to register a microchip?
Most owners finish in a few minutes once they have the chip number and their pet's basic details on hand. There's no waiting period; your record is searchable as soon as you save it.
My pet's chip came from another company. Can I still register it here?
Yes. Type in the microchip number from your pet's vet papers and it goes into the United Pet Club pet registry just like one of our own chips would.
What if I don't know my pet's microchip number?
Ask your vet or a local shelter to scan your pet. Scanning is quick and painless, and most vets will check for a chip during a routine visit at no extra cost to you.
Do I have to register again if I move house or change numbers?
No need to start over. Just log in to your account and place the new contact details on your existing record. The change is free and applies right away.
