Histiocytic sarcoma

Histiocytic sarcoma is an aggressive cancer of histiocytes, immune cells related to macrophages and dendritic cells, with a strong breed predisposition in Bernese Mountain Dogs, Flat-Coated Retrievers, and Rottweilers. It can be localized, often around a joint or in an organ, or disseminated through multiple organs. The disease tends to progress rapidly and spread widely, making it one of the more difficult canine cancers to treat.
