Macadamianüsse verursachen bei Hunden ein charakteristisches Syndrom mit Schwäche, Hinterhandataxie, Tremor und vorübergehender Hyperthermie. Das toxische Prinzip ist unbekannt. Die Symptome sind meist selbstlimitierend und selten tödlich und klingen innerhalb von 24 bis 48 Stunden ab.
