โรคขาดำเป็นโรคจากเชื้อคลอสตริเดียมที่ทำให้โคตายอย่างรวดเร็ว เกิดจากเชื้อ Clostridium chauvoei ทำให้เกิดเนื้อตายแบบมีแก๊สในกล้ามเนื้อมัดใหญ่ มักเกิดกับโครุ่นที่เจริญเติบโตดีในทุ่งหญ้าโดยไม่มีสัญญาณเตือนล่วงหน้า สปอร์ในดินถูกกินเข้าไปแล้วงอกในกล้ามเนื้อ ปล่อยสารพิษที่ร้ายแรงถึงชีวิต
