O golubu modena

Modena je zdepast, zbijen italijanski golub srednje veličine, cenjen zbog širokog spektra boja i mirne, dobrodušne naravi.

Modena je rasa ukrasnih golubova poreklom iz severne Italije, nazvana po gradu Modena. Telo mu je zbijeno i zaobljeno, kratko umesto izduženog i vitkog. Ova rasa se gaji uglavnom radi izložbi i kao pratilac, a ne za trke ili meso.

Priznata su dva osnovna izložbena tipa. Schietti su jednobojni golubovi u jednoj nijansi, dok Gazzi imaju obojenu glavu, krila i rep na beloj osnovi tela. Kod oba tipa rasa dolazi u veoma širokom rasponu boja i šara, čime je stekla postojan krug ljubitelja među golubarima.

Po naravi je modena blaga, mirna i poslušna. Obično se brzo navikne na golubarnik, podnosi rukovanje i često se preporučuje golubarima koji tek počinju da se bave ukrasnim golubovima. Odrasle jedinke dostižu srednju veličinu i uz dobru negu žive otprilike od 8 do 12 godina.

Modena odgovara gajiteljima koji žele ukrasnog goluba mirne naravi za golubarnik. Zahvaljujući poslušnom temperamentu, lakša je za rukovanje od življih rasa, pa se preporučuje početnicima u svetu ukrasnih golubova i izlagačima kojima treba ptica koja mirno stoji na izložbenom stolu. Manje je pogodna za nekoga ko traži letača ili poštara, jer je rasa oplemenjena zbog oblika i boje, a ne zbog leta.

Istorija i poreklo

Modena je nastala u okolini istoimenog italijanskog grada, gde je vekovima oplemenjivana pre nego što je standardizovana i izvezena u druge zemlje kao izložbena rasa.

Rasa nosi ime po Modeni, gradu u pokrajini Emilija-Romanja u severnoj Italiji. Golubarstvo je u tom kraju staro zanimanje, a lokalni golubovi su generacijama birani zbog boje i kratkog, zaobljenog tela. Preci ove rase su nekada leteli u jatnom sportu u kome su golubove terali i hvatali, što je podsticalo zbijen i aktivan tip ptice.

Vremenom su gajitelji pažnju sa letačkih sposobnosti preusmerili na izgled. Selekcija se ustalila na zbijenoj građi, uspravnom stavu i širokoj paleti boja koje danas odlikuju ovu rasu. Baš u tom periodu su se ustalile dve izložbene podele: Schietti za jednobojne ptice i Gazzi za belu osnovu sa obojenim šarama.

Modena se iz Italije proširila u Nemačku, gde su gajitelji razvili nešto krupniji i doteraniji izložbeni tip, poznat kao nemačka modena. Odatle, kao i direktno iz Italije, rasa je stigla u Britaniju i Severnu Ameriku, gde je postala uobičajen učesnik na izložbama golubova.

Danas je modena jedna od brojnijih izložbenih rasa golubova, gajena širom Evrope i Severne Amerike. Oplemenjivanje je i dalje usmereno na tip, stav i bogat izbor boja i šara, a ne na bilo kakvu radnu namenu.

Izgled i standard rase

Modena je nizak, zdepast golub okruglih grudi, uspravnog stava i širokog spektra boja u okviru svoja dva osnovna tipa šare.

Modena je nepogrešivo zbijena. Telo je kratko i duboko, grudi su široke i visoko nošene, a leđa kratka. Ptica stoji uspravno, sa repom podignutim od zemlje i krilima koja se oslanjaju na rep umesto da se ukrštaju ispod njega. Glava je zaobljena, a kljun srednje dužine i čvrst. Ukupan izgled je zbijen i zaobljen, što je osnovna odlika standarda rase.

Perje je glatko i priljubljeno uz telo. Modena se gaji u jednom od najširih spektara boja i šara među svim golubljim rasama. Schietti ptice su jednobojne po celom telu. Gazzi ptice su bele na većem delu tela, a boja je ograničena na glavu, krila i rep. U okviru ovih tipova rasa se javlja u prugastim, šarenim i jednobojnim varijantama, u nijansama plave, crne, srebrne, crvene, žute, mrke i biseraste, između ostalog. Na izložbama se ocenjuju i oblik i stav, kao i ujednačenost i jasnoća šara u boji.
