Отравление свинцом развивается при заглатывании содержащих свинец материалов, таких как старая краска, рыболовные грузила, припой и аккумуляторные батареи. Свинец нарушает работу нервной системы, желудочно-кишечного тракта и процессов кроветворения. Часто поражаются также крупный рогатый скот и водоплавающая птица. Хелатотерапия снижает уровень свинца в крови.
