Botulisme
Also known as: Shaker foal-syndrom
Botulisme er en raskt progredierende, ofte dødelig nevromuskulær lammelse forårsaket av toksiner fra Clostridium botulinum. Hester er ekstremt følsomme og kan innta preformert toksin i fordervet grovfôr eller, hos føll, produsere det i tarmen (shaker foal-syndrom). Den forårsaker progredierende slapp svakhet og svelgevansker.
