Cataract is een vertroebeling van de ooglens die het gezichtsvermogen verstoort en tot blindheid kan leiden. Bij honden is cataract vaak erfelijk, maar het ontwikkelt zich ook secundair aan diabetes mellitus, veroudering, trauma of andere oogaandoeningen. Chirurgische verwijdering kan het gezichtsvermogen herstellen bij geschikte kandidaten.
