Sinkforgiftning følger som regel inntak av sinkholdige gjenstander, klassisk 1-cent-mynter preget etter 1982, mutre, bolter og glidelåser. Absorbert sink gir alvorlig intravaskulær hemolyse og anemi, med mage-tarm- og nyreeffekter. Fjerning av metallgjenstanden er sentralt i behandlingen.
