O golubu modena

Modena je zdepasti talijanski izložbeni golub srednje veličine, uzgajan zbog širokog spektra boja i mirne, dobroćudne naravi koja odgovara i početnicima.

Modena je izložbena pasmina goluba podrijetlom iz sjeverne Italije, nazvana po gradu Modeni. Riječ je o zbijenoj, zdepastoj ptici: tijelo joj je kratko i zaobljeno, a ne dugo i vitko. Uzgaja se prije svega radi izložbi i kao ukrasni golub, a ne za utrke ili meso.

Priznata su dva osnovna izložbena tipa. Schietti su jednobojne ptice u jednoj nijansi boje, dok Gazzi imaju obojenu glavu, krila i rep na bijelom tijelu. Kod oba tipa pasmina dolazi u vrlo širokom rasponu boja i uzoraka, zbog čega ima postojan krug pristaša među uzgajivačima golubova.

Golub modena ima blagu, mirnu i pitomu narav. Obično se dobro privikne na golubinjak, podnosi rukovanje, pa se često preporučuje uzgajivačima koji se prvi put okušavaju u držanju izložbenih golubova. Odrasle jedinke dosežu srednju veličinu i uz dobru njegu žive otprilike 8 do 12 godina.

Golub modena pogodan je za uzgajivače koji žele ukrasnu pticu mirne naravi u golubinjaku. Zbog pitome naravi lakše ga je držati u rukama nego življe pasmine, pa odgovara i početnicima u uzgoju izložbenih golubova, kao i izlagačima kojima treba ptica koja mirno stoji na izlagačkom stolu. Manje je prikladan za nekoga tko traži letača ili pismonošu, jer se pasmina uzgaja radi oblika i boje, a ne radi leta.

Povijest i podrijetlo

Golub modena razvio se u i oko istoimenog talijanskog grada, gdje se stoljećima uzgajao prije nego što je standardiziran i izvezen kao izložbena pasmina.

Pasmina je dobila ime po Modeni, gradu u pokrajini Emilia-Romagna u sjevernoj Italiji. Golubarstvo je u tom kraju staro, a lokalne su ptice generacijama birane prema boji i kratkom, zaobljenom tijelu. Talijanski preci ove pasmine ponekad su letjeli u skupnom sportu u kojem su se ptice tjerale i hvatale, što je pogodovalo razvoju zdepastog i pokretljivog tipa.

S vremenom su uzgajivači pažnju s letačkih sposobnosti preusmjerili na izgled. Odabir se ustalio na zdepastoj građi, uspravnom stavu i širokom rasponu boja koji pasminu obilježavaju i danas. U tom su se razdoblju ustalile i dvije izložbene skupine: Schietti za jednobojne ptice i Gazzi za uzorak s obojenim oznakama na bijelom tijelu.

Golub modena proširio se izvan Italije u Njemačku, gdje su uzgajivači razvili nešto krupniji i dotjeraniji izložbeni tip, poznat kao njemački modenezer. Odatle je, kao i izravno iz Italije, pasmina stigla u Britaniju i Sjevernu Ameriku, gdje je postala uobičajena prijava na izložbama golubova.

Danas je golub modena jedna od brojnijih izložbenih pasmina golubova, a uzgaja se diljem Europe i Sjeverne Amerike. Uzgoj je i dalje usmjeren na tip, stav i velik raspon boja i uzoraka, a ne na bilo kakvu radnu namjenu.

Izgled i standard pasmine

Golub modena ima kratko, zdepasto tijelo, zaobljena prsa i uspravan stav, a boje se javljaju u velikom broju unutar dva glavna tipa oznaka.

Golub modena nedvojbeno je zdepast. Tijelo mu je kratko i duboko, prsa široka i visoko nošena, a leđa kratka. Ptica stoji uspravno, s repom podignutim od tla, dok krila počivaju na repu, a ne prekrižena ispod njega. Glava je zaobljena, a kljun srednje dužine i snažan. Cjelokupna silueta zbijena je i zaobljena, što je središnja odrednica standarda pasmine.
