פיומטרה

פיומטרה היא זיהום חיידקי מסכן חיים של הרחם המתפתח בנקבות שלמות, בדרך כלל תוך שבועות ממחזור ייחום תחת השפעת פרוגסטרון. מוגלה מצטברת בתוך הרחם, ורעלים המשתחררים לזרם הדם עלולים לגרום לספסיס, פגיעה כלייתית ומוות. המצב מסווג כפתוח (צוואר הרחם פתוח, הפרשה נראית) או סגור (צוואר הרחם סגור, ללא הפרשה), כאשר הצורה הסגורה מסוכנת יותר. כריתה כירורגית חירומית של הרחם והשחלות היא הטיפול המועדף.
