تتراهیدروکانابینول موجود در ماری‌جوانا و خوراکی‌های حاوی آن باعث افسردگی عصبی در حیوانات خانگی می‌شود. تصویر کلاسیک آن سگ متلوتلوکننده‌ای است که بزاق می‌ریزد و به صداها حساس شده است. اکثر موارد کشنده نیستند، اما محصولات غلیظ و شکلات یا خوراکی‌های حاوی زایلیتول و THC خطر را به‌طور قابل‌توجهی افزایش می‌دهند.
