پیومتر

پیومتر عفونت باکتریایی تهدیدکننده حیات رحم است که در ماده‌های تخمدان‌دار ایجاد می‌شود، معمولاً طی چند هفته پس از یک چرخه فحلی تحت تأثیر پروژسترون. چرک درون رحم تجمع می‌یابد و سموم آزادشده در جریان خون می‌توانند سپسیس، آسیب کلیوی و مرگ ایجاد کنند. این بیماری به دو نوع باز (دهانه رحم باز، ترشح قابل مشاهده) و بسته (دهانه رحم بسته، بدون ترشح) طبقه‌بندی می‌شود که نوع بسته خطرناک‌تر است. برداشتن جراحی اورژانسی رحم و تخمدان‌ها درمان انتخابی است.
