کریپتوکوکوز
کریپتوکوکوز شایع‌ترین عفونت قارچی سیستمیک در گربه‌هاست که توسط گونه‌های کریپتوکوکوس ایجاد می‌شود که از طریق استنشاق اسپورهای محیطی، اغلب مرتبط با فضولات پرندگان یا برخی درختان، کسب می‌شود. به‌طور مشخص حفره بینی، پوست، چشم‌ها و سیستم عصبی مرکزی را درگیر می‌کند. این بیماری مستقیماً بین حیوانات یا به انسان منتقل نمی‌شود. معمولاً به دوره طولانی درمان ضدقارچی نیاز است.
