Insect bite hypersensitivity
Insect bite hypersensitivity, commonly called sweet itch or summer eczema, is an allergic skin disease caused by reactions to the bites of biting midges (Culicoides) and other insects. It causes intense seasonal itching, hair loss, and skin damage, especially along the mane and tail. Signs recur each insect season.
