Infectious laryngotracheitis
Notifiable
Infectious laryngotracheitis is an acute, highly contagious herpesvirus disease of the upper respiratory tract of chickens. Severe forms cause marked dyspnea, gasping and expectoration of bloody mucus due to hemorrhagic tracheitis. The virus establishes latency, and recovered birds can become lifelong carriers.
