Hypervitaminosis A
Chronic excess of vitamin A, most often in cats fed large amounts of liver or fish, causes painful new bone formation around joints and the spine. Cats develop stiffness, neck rigidity, and fused vertebrae of the neck and forelimbs. The condition is slow to develop and reflects long-term dietary imbalance rather than acute poisoning.
