Chronic hepatitis
Hereditary
Canine chronic hepatitis is ongoing inflammation and progressive scarring of the liver that, if unchecked, leads to cirrhosis and liver failure. Causes include abnormal copper accumulation, immune-mediated disease, infections, and toxins, though many cases are idiopathic. Certain breeds, such as Bedlington Terriers and Dobermans, are predisposed. Early diagnosis and treatment can slow progression.
