Avian pox (canary pox)
Avian pox in canaries is a viral disease caused by a poxvirus, often spread by mosquitoes. It occurs in a dry skin form with wart-like lesions and a more dangerous wet or systemic form affecting the respiratory tract. The systemic form in canaries can cause high mortality, especially during mosquito season.
