Osteochondrosis
Osteochondrosis is a developmental disturbance of cartilage maturation in growing horses that leads to defective bone formation within joints. When fragments separate it is called osteochondritis dissecans (OCD). It commonly affects the hock, stifle, and fetlock and can cause joint swelling and lameness in young horses.
