Mucoid enteropathy

Mucoid enteropathy is a serious intestinal disorder of rabbits characterized by accumulation of thick mucus in the gut and passage of jelly-like mucoid feces. It reflects disturbed intestinal motility and secretion, often associated with low-fiber diets, stress, and dysbiosis, and is most common in young weanling rabbits. Affected rabbits show inappetence, abdominal distension, and a sloshy gas-filled gut, and the condition carries a high mortality rate.
