Inflammatory bowel disease
Inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic immune-mediated inflammation of the intestinal lining, one cause of chronic enteropathy in dogs. Persistent infiltration of inflammatory cells impairs digestion and absorption, causing long-standing vomiting, diarrhea, and weight loss. It is a diagnosis of exclusion confirmed by intestinal biopsy. It is managed with diet and immunosuppression rather than cured.
