Hyperuricosuria
Hereditary
An inherited disorder of uric acid handling that causes high urinary uric acid and a predisposition to urate bladder and kidney stones. It is caused by a mutation in the SLC2A9 gene and is the fixed trait in all Dalmatians, also seen in Bulldogs, Black Russian Terriers and others. Affected dogs are prone to recurrent urate urolithiasis.
