Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis is immune-mediated inflammation of the kidneys' filtering units, the glomeruli, leading to leakage of protein into the urine. Persistent protein loss can cause low blood albumin, fluid retention, high blood pressure, and dangerous blood clots, and may progress to kidney failure. It is frequently triggered by chronic infectious, inflammatory, or neoplastic disease elsewhere in the body.
