Displaced abomasum

Displaced abomasum is a common disorder of dairy cattle in which the abomasum (true stomach) fills with gas and shifts from its normal position, usually to the left. It typically occurs in the weeks after calving and causes reduced appetite, drop in milk, and selective inappetence. Right-sided displacement can progress to a life-threatening twist.
