Βοτουλισμός

Ο βοτουλισμός είναι ταχέως εξελισσόμενη, συχνά θανατηφόρος νευρομυϊκή παράλυση προκαλούμενη από τοξίνες του Clostridium botulinum. Τα άλογα είναι εξαιρετικά ευαίσθητα και μπορεί να καταπιούν προσχηματισμένη τοξίνη από χαλασμένη χορτονομή ή, στα πουλάρια, να την παράγουν στο έντερο (σύνδρομο τρέμοντος πώλου). Προκαλεί προοδευτική χαλαρή αδυναμία και δυσκολία κατάποσης.
