Membership is how the club exists: every member joins a program, holds a grade, and belongs to a class of members with a real say in how the corporation is run.
Our Articles under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act establish four classes of members. Each class collectively holds a fixed share of the total voting rights, divided equally among its members — so every member's voice is counted, and smaller senior classes carry real weight.
| Class | Who it's for | Collective voting rights |
|---|---|---|
| Třída A | Founders, major donors, distinguished volunteers, directors and key employees; granted by invitation or appointment, or as a paid grant. Collectively holds 30% of the total voting rights, divided equally among Class A members. | 30% |
| Třída B | Honorary members, appointed by the Board in recognition of service or standing. Never conferred by any subscription plan. Collectively holds 20% of the total voting rights, divided equally among Class B members. | 20% |
| Třída C | Pet professionals: individuals with verified industry credentials (veterinarians, groomers, trainers, breeders and similar professionals), and organizations verified as engaged professionally or institutionally in animal care or welfare, including shelters and rescues. Collectively holds 30% of the total voting rights, divided equally among Class C members. | 30% |
| Třída M | Basic members, admitted on application through the join wizard. The entry grade ordinarily carries a membership fee; the Corporation may also admit a member without one. Collectively holds 20% of the total voting rights, divided equally among Class M members. | 20% |
If a class has no members, its allocation is redistributed proportionally among the remaining classes. A member who does not vote or abstains never has their voting rights redistributed or transferred.
Companion is the club's free grade and it's open to everyone. Paid grades add benefits, standing and voting weight when you're ready.
Membership isn't assigned automatically when you sign up. Signing up creates your account and your profile; becoming a member is a separate step you apply for. Once you're signed in, open Plan & Membership in your dashboard and follow the join wizard to apply for Companion — or for any other grade or program.
