টিটেনাস প্রায়ই মারাত্মক রোগ, যা ক্ষতের মাধ্যমে প্রবেশকারী Clostridium tetani-র বিষের কারণে হয়। ঘোড়া ও গাধা এই রোগের প্রতি সবচেয়ে সংবেদনশীল প্রজাতির মধ্যে অন্যতম। এই বিষ প্রতিরোধক স্নায়ু সংকেত অবরুদ্ধ করে, যা তীব্র পেশী দৃঢ়তা এবং খিঁচুনি সৃষ্টি করে।
