النفاخ هو تمدد مفرط للكرش بالغازات لا يستطيع الحيوان تجشّؤها. ينتج النفاخ الرغوي عن رغوة مستقرة تحبس الغاز، وغالبًا في مراعي البقول الغضة، بينما ينتج نفاخ الغاز الحر عن انسداد فيزيائي يعوق التجشؤ. يضغط النفاخ الشديد على الصدر ويمكن أن يسبب موتًا سريعًا.
